THE AVR is a non profit club and we welcome new members who have an interest in small railroading. We are looking for interested model builders who would like to take on or help with structure building projects for the AVR.

NEXT WORK SESSIONS WILL BE Wednesday & Saturday afternoons. Work on new car building, Switch points, Other projects that need attention. Completion of ride astride cars and last stock car. Specific projects for this summer. We need a leader for each project.
Create new sub roadbed for the extended Winch spur track.
Lift and re-lay the paving stones where the steaming bay lift is stored.

Saturday June 29th was the day of our Fun Run Day. First order of activity was to get out cars for switching. 202 and 2365 spread half our cars out on the railway's various spurs. Starting in the late morning a switching session was started and carried on until BBQ time. In the evening casual rides were conducted. Those who participated had a great time and a relaxing BBQ. At the end of the evening all cars were rounded up and put away. Members present were Dwight, Carmelina, Richard, Barry, Rob, Vic, Becky, Phil M., Frank, Wayne and his family, Stephen and Bill. During the afternoon we accommodated a family of 11 with a train ride.
Sunday was a day with eight family coming from Alberta and joined by nine from Winnipeg. 2365 was steamed and Rob and Bill gave the group a number of rides in the afternoon and evening.
Monday July 1st, Canada Day, Rob and Bill worked on 3001 as it had been put in the engine house with traction motor problems. Problems found and repaired were on motor assembly #1 which had a power problem and we found that corrosion had caused an open connection between the upper and lower terminal block. This was cleaned and put back in operation. On traction motor # 3 it was found that one motor terminal had come loose. This was re-soldered and put back in service. On assembly # 4 it was found that one wheel had come loose. The motor was dropped and the wheel re-secured. The locomotive was put back into service and later in the day Bill's grandkids came for a wiener roast, train rides and watching the fireworks in the park. 3001 was sun for several hours and operated well.
Tuesday Rob and Bill used 3001 and her load of lock blocks to complete the west tunnel. The remaining blocks were placed on the southwest wing wall of the east tunnel. More will be needed. Rob made up new springs for the tender coupler of 2365 and Bill cut a spacer for the mounting bolt. The Plymouth switcher was taken down and as the batteries were dead it was put on charge. Rob and Bill went out for 20 more standard lock blocks and 12 cap blocks.
Wednesday Rob switched the charger on the Plymouth. Rob and Bill stacked up the new supply of blocks but as we were still short Vic and John went to pick up seven more. Vic and Bill split two blocks. Rob added a washer to car 170 and with Quindora and Julian brought in some Christmas lights. Rob put out the remaining lock blocks.
Thursday Rob discovered the new wall's foundation had settled overnight with the wet sub base and was in need of being redone. Bill re-engineered the project by moving the first stone back to get it to be captured by the last tunnel timber. Rob took #25 and the Yellow Plymouth out to the bridge to get some formal pictures. Rob replaced a coupler shank spring in 3001 and then gathered up the stock cars. Shirley helped put one car on the raised dolly and Bill put on 25% of the white lime paint.
Saturday July 6th. Bill limed the next 25% of the stock car and Rob completed the second half. Phil M., continued to work on switch point manufacturing. Gil milled the new siding for the dog house extension. Gordon and Richard put away the last of the Christmas displays. Rob continued with his photo taking of equipment and while he framed pictures Bill printed photos. Dwight worked on his new track panel template. Richard, Gordon and Bill re-built the lock block wall to make it more stable. With a wider base we will need another 15 blocks.
Sunday Rob and Shirley completed the picture framing and arranged them all on the station walls.
Saturday July 13th, was the day of our open house. Due to the high temperature the passengers were light. Bill manned the station. The steamer was run by Len and Phil M., Richard and Gordon operated the diesel. Vic, Wayne and Barry worked on 713 replacing the lubricator line. Ken and Billy did odd jobs including some deer fence attention.
Sunday was a great public day with both steamer and diesel looking after a steady flow of riders. Len, Gordon and Bill kept the trains operating.
Wednesday July 17th., Phil M. worked on the mill making more points for new switches and to replace some wearing points. Vic serviced a traction motor. Gil and Vic started the suburban and moved the clubs trailer. Bill machined four car door trolleys and cut some of our grass areas.
