How to find us in Winnipeg.
We are located in the south west part of Winnipeg in a community called Charleswood. The main street that runs east and west in Charleswood is called Roblin Blvd. It follows the Assiniboine River. The principal park called Assiniboine Park which contains the Zoo is immediately east of our site and our eastern boundary is the western boundary of the park. We have a sign posted at the end of our drive. Our Lane is 800 feet long before you reach the AVR. We have a small parking area that will hold about 10 cars at the end. Parking is also available along the east side of our lane unless you are a bus. We can accommodate several small trailers on the turning circle but long house trailers can be problematic getting turned around. We do have a small tent camping area in the woods on our site. The cross street that runs south from Roblin is called Chalfont Road, directly opposite our driveway. We have an upper parking area that is grass field but will accommodate about 25 cars. It is also available to park campers. There is limited power and water in the area. A spur track from the railway runs into that area.
Facilities available.
CONSTRUCTION OF LIFT AND STEAMING BAY
We have a movable loading lift that has a 12 foot lift section on four screws electrically driven. There is an 18 inch and a 45 inch extension to reach into trailers or vans that can be added. This lift can reach a height of six feet. We can position this anywhere on the 22 foot by 14 foot concrete pad and place equipment on our steaming bay or directly to track.
The station is equipped with flush toilet and sink with hot water, but we do not have a shower. We have a telephone in the station.
For the next few years we have room in our car barn to accommodate guest equipment. We have three raised steaming bays that are 20 feet long. We do have a small air compressor available and water and electricity are available at the steaming bays and at the station. Our next structure will be an engine house and machine shop, but that will not start until the summer of 2004.
