AVR BUILDS NEW MECHANICAL LIFT AND STEAMING BAY AREA.

LIFT IS ON BENCHES OUTSIDE STATION. CASTERS ARE GOOD FOR 800 LB. EACH. UPPER BRACING NOT YET INSTALLED. ONE INCH SCREWS WILL BE MOUNTED IN EACH CORNER ANGLE. CORNER ANGLE IS THREE INCH. DESIGNED TO CARRY 2000 LB.
LIFT SECTION UPSIDE DOWN AFTER HAVING PRIMER APPLIED. DECK IS 12 FEET LONG WITH TRUSS TO TAKE LOTS OF WEIGHT.
PAD WHERE UNLOADING LIFT WILL BE USED. PAD IS 22 FEET BY 14 FEET WIDE. UNLOADER CAN BE MOVED TO VEHICLE AND BACK TO STEAMING BAY TRACK OR FEED ONTO RAILWAY. LIFT WILL TRAVEL ON PAVING STONES ON DRIVE BUT IT WORKS BEST ON THE PAD. PITS FOR STEAMING BAY TRACKS IN DISTANCE
GIL IS CLEANING WELDS AFTER BILL WELDS IN SPACERS ON THREE STEAMING BAY TRACKS. EACH IS 20 FEET LONG. THE AREA WILL ALSO HAVE A 30 FOOT LONG STORAGE TRACK PLUS THE SPUR BACK TO THE MAIN LINE.
LIFT UNIT AFTER MAIN STEEL FABRICATION BEFORE MECHANICAL SYSTEMS HAVE BEEN ADDED. LIFT IS DESIGNED FOR 2000 LB. WILL LIFT A 12 FOOT LOCOMOTIVE AND CAN LIFT TO SIX FEET HIGH.
GIL AND BILL MOVE A LOT OF CONCRETE BEFORE THE DAY IS OUT. NOTE STEEL FLANGES FOR STEAMING BAY POSTS. THE FLANGES ARE CEMENTED IN WITH RE-BAR BETWEEN. THAT ROLLED SQUARE PIPE IS VERY HARD TO DRILL THROUGH
THE THREE 20 FOOT LONG STEAMING BAY TRACKS IN PLACE. WE INTEND TO HAVE WATER, AIR AND ELECTRICITY AVAILABLE. THEY ARE MADE TO COME OUT SO THE AREA CAN BE USED FOR OTHER PURPOSES DURING THE WINTER LIGHT DISPLAY
LEN TAKES THE FIRST RIDE ON OUR NEW LIFT UNIT. BILL AND LEN WORKED UNDER LIGHTS UNTIL MIDNIGHT GETTING THE CHAIN DRIVE COMPLETE. 
ON SATURDAY AUGUST 24TH, 2003 BILL LIFTS FIRST LOCOMOTIVE FROM LOADING SPUR TO CENTRE TRACK ON STEAMING BAY. A LIFT OF ABOUT 800 LB.
